The Houston Coalition Against Hate recently released its first report, Hate in Houston: A Study of Hate Crimes and Hate Incidents in Houston, Texas. The report examines the primary reasons why hate crimes go underreported in Houston and elsewhere and offers suggestions for improvement.
As part of the report’s release, the Coalition hosted a virtual discussion with community leaders who have experienced identity-based hate first-hand and are working diligently to make the Houston area a safer place for all. Speakers included Fort Bend County Judge K.P. George, Harrison Guy, Fifth Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation, and Sarah Haider, Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom.
