Alliance’s Toy Drive Success

Alliance’s Toy Drive Success

Donations of basic necessities are always needed at the Alliance, but often times parents find that while they are able to provide the most important things such as food and shelter for their family, the extras are not an option. For families that are constantly stretching ever dollar to survive, toys and books are a rarity for children. When Yes Prep West’s service group which focuses on refugees heard about the lack of toys for refugee kids, they set about collecting donations in order to assist these families. This dedicated group of 6th and 7th grade students gathered enough donations to supply more 25 refugee families with toys for their children.

Students were happy to be of service to the refugee community and even made sure to bring breakfast to serve parents as they shopped the donation store. They provided wonderful customer service to parents and even sent home each parent with cards wishing them the best as they adjust to their new lives in the United States. The Alliance is looking to hold more food, clothing, and toy drives in the future. Please contact Maria Cortez regarding any donation questions.
