The Alliance Wins Award from the Palestinian American Cultural Center

The Alliance was recently honored by the Palestinian American Cultural Center Houston (PACC) at their annual gala on March 11, 2017. The Alliance’s own Community Engagement Coordinator, Maisaa Zaza, accepted the Abu-Obaida Community Service Award in front of hundreds of refugee supporters at the event. The award was also presented posthumously to Robert Wesley Carter for his outstanding contributions to the community.

The Abu-Obaida Community Service Award generously comes with a monetary contribution, in The Alliance’s case, for the client emergency rental assistance fund. The Alliance has a high success rate at assisting refugee families become self-sufficient in a very short time frame. However, some clients struggle with the extreme adjustment to a new culture and way of life, often times due to the trauma of being forced to flee their homes. This emergency fund is meant to be a resource for clients that are at risk of homelessness due to job loss, health complications, or other life issues.

The Alliance thanks the Palestinian American Cultural Center Houston for this great honor and for their generous support helping refugees in need!
