Alliance Celebrates Eid al-Adha with Donation Drive

For Eid al Adha, Alliance for Multicultural Community Services’ staff, volunteers and community partners hosted a donation drive to benefit newly-arrived refugee families in Houston. Eid al Adha is one of two Eid holidays observed by Muslims, and is considered the holier of the two. Traditionally, Muslims celebrate and honor the tradition by sacrificing an animal and distributing the meat to those in need. In Houston, Muslims celebrate the holiday by donating food, money and/or goods to needy families.

On Saturday September 17, clients of all backgrounds and faiths were invited to partake in the event, which provided meat and dry goods, including rice, pasta, oil and canned vegetables, to over 250 refugee families. In addition to food donations, Alliance was able to provide clothing, shoes and toys to families in need.

Alliance would like to thank our partner, Embrace Relief, and our community donors and volunteers for helping provide food, clothing and toys for our new families.
