Refugee Mental Health & Wellness Conference 2021

Refugee Mental Health & Wellness Conference 2021

The Alliance was proud to welcome over 300 attendees and speakers to our 4th Annual Refugee Mental Health and Wellness Conference on February 25, 2021. The conference was hosted virtually with the theme: Intersection of COVID-19, Mental Health & Social Justice.
We offered 12 breakout sessions on topics such as human trafficking, empowering refugee youth, advocacy for refugees and immigrants, impacts of COVID-19 on immigrant children, racial justice, domestic violence interventions, gender equity strategies, sexual violence prevention, and more. Teque’lia Lewis, AfroVibes radio host and Ms. Black Harris County, served as the emcee.
Special thank you to our featured speaker Dr. Asim Shah of Baylor College of Medicine and member of the Board of Directors, and our 2021 keynote speakers: Drocella Mugorewera of Bridge Refugee Services, Krish O’Mara Vignarajah of Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, and our very own Aisha Koroma of The Alliance Wellness Clinic.
The conference was co-hosted by The Alliance, Baylor College of Medicine, and the Clinic for International Trauma Survivors with support from GIA Capital, Candid Homecare and Blaise Spitaleri.
