Celebrating Local Entrepreneurs – Ngoc’s Story

Today for National Entrepreneurs Day, we are proud to share the story of Ngoc Ho, a participant in our Child Care Entrepreneurship program.

Ngoc moved to the United States from Vietnam 6 years ago. She recently graduated from The University of Houston with a degree in Human Development and had been working as a preschool teacher for two years when her friend introduced her to our Child Care Entrepreneurship program, which helps community members start their own childcare businesses.

She decided to enroll in the program because she thought it would be a good opportunity for  her to start a business in her field, gain knowledge and experience, and take a big step in her life.

“The Alliance has a really helpful, enthusiastic, and dedicated team. At the beginning, I felt very uncertain about what I was doing, but the staff helped me a lot. They encouraged me when I did not know what to do with my paperwork. They called and checked in on me, and helped me solve any challenges I was facing,” said Ngoc.

Ngoc worked closely with our team and felt supported through the whole process. For example, our team member Barbara helped Ngoc come up with ideas for her business name and helped her complete all the proper forms and paperwork to start her business.

Ngoc is very appreciative of The Alliance and the work of those involved in our Child Care Entrepreneurship program. With our support, she was able to open up her own childcare business! She is now the proud owner of Dino Land Academy, a licensed home-based childcare program that provides a high-quality and healthy learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. The next step for Ngoc is to begin marketing for her business.  She hopes to advertise her business within the Vietnamese community.

“I hope that my business is known and trusted by many people,” said Ngoc.

We are so proud of Ngoc and look forward to supporting her as she grows her business!
